Vintagelosi.com is now under new ownership.  I am exited to share my passion for Team Losi Yo-Yo’s with everyone. I hope everyone will like the new site. The site will be dedicated to the old Team Losi Yo-yo’s.  The Team Losi Yo-yo’s are some of the best ever created and it is real shame they are no longer made.

Team Losi decided to start the Yo-yo line in 1998. They line was officially ended after the purchase of Team Losi by Horizon Hobby in 2001.

Gil Losi decided to get into the Yo-yo business after learning about inner city youth in California using Yo-yos to get over crack addictions.  He decided Team Losi could build a better performing Yo-yo then what the youth had been given and at an affordable price.

In 1999 Team Losi recruited some of the youth from these programs into highly trained team of performers called the String Team.  The team was modeled after their sponsored RC team drivers.  They competed and toured in all 50 states, including Canada.

The team was eventually disbanded due to disqualification in the Greater Detroit Yo-Yo Invitational and Fish Fry.  Some of the team was caught using a banned substance on their Yo-yo.  It was never publicly announced what substance was used, but many suspect pine tar.

Even after the Yo-yo team scandal Team Losi continued with their Yo-yo line.  They eventually released the A-line and Silver series of Yo-yo.

The original Da Bomb was found to wear quickly and the newer harder plastics of the A-line was meant to rectify those issues.

The Silver Series are special chromed versions.  They weigh a little more and proved to be difficult to produce at first. The chroming process was difficult and for a while Team Losi thought they would switch to a solid steel version.  During the testing phase of the steel version one tester was knocked unconscious and another lost 2 teeth.  Team Losi then decided to focus remaining time and energy on perfecting the chrome version.

To this day the Yo-yo Team Losi created is considered one of the best performing affordable Yo-yo’s ever made by an RC company.
